When a Police Firearms Officer is involved in a shooting they will be investigated with regards to their actions, and ultimately to determine if they acted within the Law and their training. When such an event occurs a Police Federation Representative will be called out to assist the officer(s) and act as a ‘friend’. The ‘Fed Reps’ role includes the following:

1.    Contacting a solicitor on behalf of the officer(s)
2.    Providing welfare support.
3.    Liaising with the Post Incident Manager and investigators.
4.    Attending meetings on behalf of the officer(s)
5.    Making representations on behalf of the officer(s)
6.    Collating documentation from the incident.
7.    Supporting the officer(s) throughout the investigation and any subsequent inquest or hearing.
