Applications are invited from experienced Firearm Officers to join the City of London Police.

The City of London is the historic heart of London packed with history, commercial activity and culture. The City of London has a demographic profile which is not replicated anywhere else: a residential population of around 8,000 and over 500,000 as commuters arriving at their place of work daily. In addition, tens of thousands of people cross the City every day and many other thousands visit as tourists. 

It has both a rich legacy of historic buildings and areas and a large number of iconic sites including St Paul’s, the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange, and the Gherkin.

The Tactical Firearms Group (TFG) provides 24-hour firearms cover to both spontaneous and pre-planned operations in the City as well as supporting the Force in a number of other areas. You will also support the resolution of Counter terrorism related operations and incidents.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applications are invitedonlyfrom Home Office Forces applicants or British Transport Police.

Youmust be an existingArmed Response Vehicle (ARV) Officer, or as a minimum standard, a current Authorised Firearms Officer willing to participate in an ARV course. Entry position candidates will NOT be considered. 

Other ideal skills would include, but not be limited to; National Firearms Instructor and Advanced Police Driver. This is in addition as possessing operational experience, initiative, self-motivation, and a good standard of physical fitness, which are also prerequisites of the post being applied for.

There is no specific London Residency criteria. All eligible candidates across the UK are welcome to apply. 

Training:

ARV course will be mandatoryfor all transferees. ARV dates are set in advance and start dates will be offered closer to when the ARV courses are taking place.
