Man sustains arm injury as six people are arrested on suspicion of firearms offences
Officers from West Midlands police forced their way into the house in Edgbaston at about 5am looking for a man wanted in connection with a firearms offence, the force said.
Four men – aged 21, 35, 45 and 52 – and two women, aged 59 and 64, were arrested during the operation and a firearm was recovered. They are being held on suspicion of firearms offences.
“Another man at the address was shot by police during the warrant and has been taken to hospital with an arm injury,” a force spokesman said. “It is not believed to be life threatening.”
A gun recovered at the house was seized for forensic examination.
The force said the arrests were not connected to the Conservative party conference in the city.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct said it was investigating the incident.
