Examples of support
The PFOA will give you and your family a choice. We have alternative methods of support, not just counselling. We want you to be comfortable with who you speak with, where you speak with them, and when you speak with them.

Officer and family suffering following fatal shooting. Anxiety and frustration over way he had been treated by Force. Officer off ops for some time.
PFOA Action:
We contacted officer and assisted initially with an NLP input to help him deal with frustrations and anger. This was then followed up by counselling sessions for officer and his wife by Prompt UK, the specialist counsellors used by PFOA. Officer expected to return to Operational duty imminently.
PFOA case study 2
Officer seriously ill and admitted into intensive care. He and his wife had a 9-month-old baby. Officer’s family not in contact with him, and his wife’s family all live a long distance away. His wife was under enormous pressure looking after baby and visiting officer in hospital. Baby was not sleeping which caused even greater pressure on wife.
PFOA Action:
We made contact and visited officer and his wife when he came out of hospital. Officer was very weak, and unable to help wife with baby. We assisted by paying for a specialist nanny to attend three times a week for six weeks to look after the baby and give officer and his wife some respite. Officer now back at work and on full operational duty.
