Training Blog 10

Its now 2012 and our epic challenge is starting to become a reality. When Karl called me over a year ago now and mentioned doing the LEJOG it was really a distant thought.

With just over 3 months to go now this is the time to get some serious saddle time in! Planning is going well with several WIGWAM sites booked as well as some B&Bs and hotels. Some people have been incredibly generous, and others not helpful at all! Vehicles are all but sorted now, news of which will be posted on the LEJOG home page soon.

My training has really stepped up recently. Although as I write its -4 outside and getting motivated just to get out of bed on a Sunday morning is difficult, I have quite enjoyed pushing myself that little bit more. I have been training mostly on the turbo, watching countless films, mostly lent to me by friends. I am attempting to do a minimum of 1 hour a day and a max of 4. Whilst this does not sound much, its something! Its all about getting in the saddle.

My plans leading up to the LEJOG are:

February: Hill work leading up to the 74 mile Kentish Killer on 19th February.

March: Begin daily cycles to the train station 40 miles (return!)

April: More Hill work and daily rides and possibly a trip abroad to Spain for some nice hills!!

Hopefully I will be ready for the big one by then. I bumped into Iestyn on the train the other day and we talked the whole journey about our training, nutrition, kit, etc etc! I am really looking forward to the challenge, I just hope I keep injury free and do not get another cold etc!!

Look out for information on the ride, and how you can sponsor Team PFOA.
