Adventure Medical is a flexible and innovative solution for providing medical planning, training and support to individuals and groups undertaking some of the most exciting adventures the world has to offer!
We spotted a gap in the market for helping individuals and teams who want to undertake something “a bit different” feel empowered and enabled to ensure that they have undertaken effective pre-trip preparations, and that they can cope with whatever clinical challenges the trip may throw up.
We can help you at the planning stage of your event by working with you to;
- Understand, document and explain the risks you may encounter, and how to mitigate them
- Complete pre-trip health planning including vaccinations and medication
- Construct a medical kit suitable for your individual needs
- Provide in depth information regarding the medical infrastructure in your chosen location
- Overcome any other specific needs and concerns you or your group have
Following on from the initial planning stage we can offer a range of training to ensure that all members of the group are suitably equipped and confident to manage health and wellbeing needs whatever they may be.
Because we also love to try new things we are also able to become an integral part of your adventure providing support as it unfolds. We can provide cover for almost any sort of activity, and within the UK have access to Off Road vehicles including 4x4 and dirt bikes to ensure we can get almost anywhere quickly. We are willing and able to cover events almost anywhere....worldwide! We are able to draw on a network of experienced medics who have experience in a variety of environments and will work with us to deliver a high quality solution on the ground.

It probably makes sense to explain who Adventure Medical are. “We” are Mark Bilby and Kate Turner. We are both steeped in healthcare experience from many years working in the National Health Service, and have a love of travel and all things adventurous. Adventure Medical enables us to combine our skills and expertise in providing high quality healthcare within the world of adventure and wild experiences which we both love.
Mark started his clinical career with the Royal Navy and now has more than 25 years of patient care experience in both military and civilian settings. He has provided medical support in all kinds of settings imaginable from a Royal Naval Field Gun Crew at the Royal Tournament to motorcycle trips in Europe, Southern India, the Himalayas and South East Asia. The most recent of these was to remote areas in Cambodia with 30 dirt bikers and Kate as his assistant.
Kate has a degree in International Relations and a masters degree in Health Care Management. She has worked throughout the NHS for nearly ten years and has also spent time working on national health policy for the Department of Health. Planning and research is Kate's forte, she focuses on the planning and customer relationship side of Adventure Medical but also provides support to Mark and the other affiliated medics at events and on trips.
Kate and Mark are both keen motorcyclists, particularly off road, however given an opportunity will try anything at least once, particularly if it involves being outside and getting wet and muddy!
