What boot?
Intelligent Armor Limited has a large range and stock of boots, from Lowa and Magnum boots, through to Danner and Oakley SI boots; the fact is, like feet, all boots are very different.
Choice
Making the right choice of boot is very important; there is no point in an assault boot if you are office based, you might look the dog’s nuts, but your feet and posture will suffer. Like wise, if you are using an ultra lightweight boots for Firearms duties, the boots won’t last too long and your wallet will suffer more than your feet!!
Boot Height
Many brands do boots in 8” or 6” models, Oakley, Lowa especially have a few good 6” boots.
8” boots are more suited to anything other than driving or light duties normally; however, 6” boots are also suitable for officers that have calf problems or lower leg issues.
Gore-Tex or not?
Many people purchase Gore-Tex boots when they don’t require that extra level of protection from the cold, and some suffer from smelly boots because of this!
If your work mainly involves office or light duties, then Gore-Tex is not a requirement and could damage your feet with bacterial infections caused by your feet overheating.
You get what you pay for!
All boot manufactures are different; many aim a given range of boots to certain sectors, like Magnum to the Police, what HanWag are to the SAS etc, different brands have different boots aimed at different levels. With specialist brands that use advanced manufacture techniques, like HanWag, Danner and Lowa, you can expect to pay more for your boots, with Magnum, Blackhawk and Oakley, you pay less.
Cheap boots on the whole can’t be resoled; that’s why Danner, HanWag and Lowa cost that little bit more!
